An In-Depth Review of the Yihi SXmini SL Class Mod

Yihi SXmini SL Class Mod Review

If you’re looking for sophistication and power, look no further. The SXmini SL Class Mod from Yihi sets a new standard in high class vape mods. Featuring a lightsaber-esque design, this mod pumps out more power than just about any other single battery powered device on the market. Let's take a look at what makes this Mod great!

Power! Unlimited Power!

Well maybe not unlimited, but the power output on this Mod is certainly impressive. Utilizing just one 21700 battery you can fire the Yihi SXmini SL all the way up to 100W, perfect for cloud chasing. This Mod is adjustable by 0.1 watt increments and can fire as low as 5W if you’re inclined to use a lower wattage MTL style tank with this Mod.

As a chain vaper I often find that most single battery devices just can’t keep up with my regular usage, that’s not the case with the Yihi SXmini SL Class. I’ve been vaping hard on this device and so far it’s been pretty consistent with power drain. At higher wattages I typically go through two battery changes in one full day of vaping. That’s not too shabby for a single battery device, I’ve had dual battery devices that didn’t last as long under similar conditions with two 18650 batteries inside.

But Can It Read?

Yihi has always been famous in the vaping world, mostly for the fantastic Chipsets that they develop for their devices. Inside the SXmini SL you’ll find the YiHi SX485J processor, one of the most advanced chips available on the market today.

So what does that entail? Well for starters, the Yihi SXmini has one of the most accurate temperature control firing modes out there. Some testers have even gone so far as to say it’s more accurate than the famed DNA chips! It also has an extremely intelligent built-in ohm reader that automatically reads the resistance ratings of any coils or tanks that you install. You can even manually adjust resistance ratings down to the ten thousandths decimal point.

Along with fantastic temperature control the YiHi chipset also comes with several fire modes such as battery bypass firing, Eco mode which limits the device’s wattage output to save battery, Novice mode for simple wattage firing, variable joulefire mode, and a series of taste modes.

The taste modes are basically function by preheating the atomizer coils and adjusting the power curve for flavor. The soft mode provides the most flavor, keeping the power curve steady so that the flavor of your E-Juice isn’t affected by wattage. The Powerful+ fire mode is made for cloud chasers, and when used in conjunction with a 100W output, even beginner vapers can chuck clouds like nobody's business.

With the SXI-Q fire modes, you can set your own custom power curves easily by simply dragging points around on a simple graph display through the computer software.

Utilizing the simple 5 directional joystick you can easily adjust settings to your preferences and cycle through firing modes. The internal firmware is upgradeable through the SXI-Q software and YiHi has been on point with their firmware upgrades across the other chipsets that they offer.

The Looks

I’m not usually the type of person who places a whole lot of importance on aesthetics, but I have to admit, this was one of very few Mods that I’ve tested where people would comment on it when I had it out in public. Most people have said it looks exactly like the handle of a Lightsaber from Star Wars, and with the Carbon Fiber version that I have, I completely agree with them.

From a design standpoint the SXmini SL Class is essentially a metal mechanical tube mod with a chip and display screen bolted onto the side of it. And I like that. So many devices out there try to internalize chipsets and design the rest of the Mod around them, making them bulkier than they really need to be. With the SXmini SL you get a compact single battery mod with just a little metal outcropping on one side which contains the brains of the device.

On the face of this metallic piece is a full-color TFT IPS display screen that displays a vast swath of important vaping data. In advanced mode with Wattage Power output the screen displays current output wattage, Joules, atomizer resistance, output voltage, current firing amps, memory mode number, preheat mode, as well as current battery life displayed in bars and current battery voltage.

YiHi also offers a few metal etched versions with fleur-de-lis inspired designs. These Mods are classically styled to highlight the high-class nature of this device. The YiHi SXmini SL has a higher price point than most of the standard mods on the market so it makes sense that it should stand out above the crowd.

If you really want to show off, there’s also a Stabilized Wood version of the YiHi SXmini SL available that’s sure to turn heads.

Functioning in the Real World

While ratings and specifications are important, we all know the most important thing to consider when purchasing a mod is how it functions in the real world in the hands of real vapers. The verdict is pretty much what you’d expect from a YiHi. Excellent functionality, unmatched versatility, and as durable as a brick. I put my YiHi through a few drops (some of them accidental) and I’m pleased to report the SXmini SL class survived them all with no issues.

The device features a sturdy metal chassis with knurled edges on the battery caps for an ergonomic grip during disassembly.

Honestly, I think you could hammer a nail into wood with this mod and vape it afterwards, that's how durable the construction is.

I really appreciate the power range it offers as well, there’s not too many mods out on the market that can boast a 100W output on a single battery, and even less that can actually achieve that output rating. If you’re looking for a device that has enough power to keep up with dual battery box mods, but you don’t like the bulky look and feel of box mods, you’re going to love the YiHi SXmini SL class.

I liked the YiHi SXmini SL class so much that I just had to buy one for myself and I can proudly say it’s one of the best vape purchases I’ve ever made!
